Voldrak

This creature's description may contain spoilers. Click to revealIt seems like every lake in Ustalav of any considerable size has its own legend about a lake monster, but in the case of Lake Laroba, these legends have been fact for as long as anyone can remember. The lake’s denizen, Voldrak, was only rarely sighted in the days before the curse, despite entire expeditions of hopeful monster-watchers spending extensive hours on the lake.

Now, like all other creatures swept up by the Bastardhall Curse, Voldrak has grown worse. The lake monster torments anyone who dares ply the waters for too long. He generally prefers to frighten or maim rather than kill, for this new Voldrak enjoys the knowledge that his horrific legend might spread.

Voldrak is a sleek, plesiosaur-like serpent, with four clawed flippers, deep-red eyes, and a long tail that ends in a single long rudder-like fin. His teeth are long and terrible and protrude over his lips even when his mouth is closed.

Sidebar - Additional Lore Voldrak’s Fate

Before the curse, Voldrak was an elusive water orm regarded by the Arudoras almost as a mascot or pet to such an extent that they worked his image into their family crest. After the curse, though, Voldrak became a much more aggressive and dangerous monster. While he’s unlikely to survive the events of Bastion of Blasphemies, Lake Laroba is deep, and who’s to say the lake monster’s ghost doesn’t survive in its depths after the PCs return home?
