Thorgrim

This creature's description may contain spoilers. Click to revealPrince Thorgrim is the youngest of four sons of King Borogrim the Hale, regent of the dwarf kingdoms of the Five Kings Mountains. With little prospect of inheriting his father's throne, Thorgrim took up life as a champion of Torag, venturing throughout the Lake Encarthan region as a sort of unofficial ambassador of the dwarves to the varied peoples living in the area. The longer Thorgrim spent away from his father's court and the company of other dwarves, the more he found himself succumbing to vices, and it wasn't long before Thorgrim started picking up nicknames like “the Partying Prince.” Reports of scandals related to his lechery and drunkenness didn't take long to reach the ears of his weary father in Highhelm, and even before the final indignity that split him from his family, the disapproval of his fellow dwarves grew as the physical distance between them increased. Finally, in 4705 ar, Thorgrim's wild lifestyle saw him imprisoned in a small town in Nirmathas, where he was very nearly killed by a corrupt jailer who wished to extort his father for a literal king's ransom. When Borogrim refused the jailer's blackmail, and in fact disowned his son in the text of his reply, Thorgrim assumed all was lost, and that he would probably die in that jail.

And he would have, if not for a timely liberation at the hands of a coterie of zealots of the Living God Razmir, who came to spread the influence of their cult in Nirmathas and who knew that an influential noble like Thorgrim could help their cause. They rescued him and incorporated him into their retinue. It wasn't long before Thorgrim came to align himself with the cult of Razmir, lured by the sweet words of his rescuers.

For years, he operated all over the Lake Encarthan region. Though he has visited Razmir many times and knows the Living God personally, he never mentions having been there. Recently, Razmir (in the disguise of Lord Synarr Daidalos, a recent arrival in Absalom) ordered Thorgrim to attend to him in the City at the Center of the World, to serve as his personal agent and operative there. Razmir somehow got word of the Chimera's interest in the Dead God's Hand, and since the Living God also intends to take the Test of the Starstone, he dispatched Prince Thorgrim into the sewers to snatch the hand before the Chimera could.

Thorgrim is evil but friendly in a boisterous, back-slapping way that masks his villainy and makes him fun to be around. He likes calling himself “Prince” Thorgrim, but he doesn't appreciate questions into this aspect of his past.
