With magic, not even time can truly hide a crime. You recreate a moment in time that occurred within the past year, complete with all creatures present at the time. The scene is an image frozen in time, such as the precise second of a queen's assassination or the deciding vote in a council. Any damage to the recreation causes it to dissipate and immediately ends the ritual.
You must know both the location and moment that you want to recreate, or the ritual's DCs increase by 10 for each piece of missing information. If you know the location and moment but aren't aware of all creatures that were present at the time, the ritual's DCs increase by 2. If you complete the ritual at the physical location you wish to examine, the ritual's DCs decrease by 2. These adjustments are cumulative.
Critical Success As success, but the scene lasts for 10 minutes.
Success The suspended scene lasts for 1 minute. While it is present, you can interact with the scene, though any creatures present do not respond to stimuli. This allows you to observe any creatures or objects, Steal items to conceal them from other observers, and otherwise investigate the scene.
Failure You create a glimpse of the scene, but it disappears a moment later. You do not have time available to investigate it.
Critical Failure The scene you create is not suspended, and any creatures within it are hostile to you.
Heightened (7th) You recreate a scene from the past 100 years.
Heightened (9th) You recreate a scene from the past 1,000 years.
Heightened (10th) You recreate a scene from any time, including the future. Looking into the future only provides a snapshot of the most probable future. When peering into the future this way, the cost is instead momentous objects collected from the past worth 250 gp × spell's rank × the primary caster's level.
