You compel the very earth beneath your feet to rise and follow you. When you cast this ritual, you must be on solid ground in an area without much vegetation. If you are not, the ritual automatically fails. When you successfully cast this ritual, boulders rise up within the emanation and constantly roll alongside you. They can move across most terrain, though if you ever don't have your feet on solid ground (such as by climbing a tree, swimming across a deep river, or flying through the air), the effect of the ritual is suppressed until you return to solid ground.
The area is difficult terrain for all other creatures as the boulders hinder their movement. In addition, the boulders grant you lesser cover.
When the ritual's duration has ended, the boulders remain in their last location. They are affected normally by anything in their current environment at the usual rate.
Critical Success The boulders follow you for 8 hours.
Success The boulders follow you for 1 hour.
Failure You fail to rouse the stones from their slumber.
Critical Failure You anger the earth with your request for it to follow you. You are immediately pelted with loose stones from the area, taking 4d8 bludgeoning damage. For the next year, each time you venture underground, you take the damage again and once every hour you remain underground.
