Defense Will
You reach into a creature’s mind and give them a glimpse of their place in the universe, learning how they perceive their position within society while damaging their mind with the truth of their insignificance relative to all of existence. The target takes 2d10 mental damage and must attempt a Will save.
Critical Success The creature takes no damage.
Success The creature takes half damage, and you gain a general sense of their position and importance within their society.
Failure The creature takes full damage, and you learn the creature’s social status within their society as well as one of their connections to a leader in their society, if any exist.
Critical Failure As failure, except the creature takes double damage and is stunned 1. You can attempt a skill check to Recall Knowledge about the creature the next time you Refocus to remember additional information that you may have learned but didn’t have time to process in the moment.
Heightened (+2) The damage increases by 1d10.
