Elharris

This creature's description may contain spoilers. Click to revealElharris is a formerly serene artist and scholar from Kyonin visiting Absalom to study at the Arcanamirium. While returning alone from a quiet evening with friends at an Ivy District theater, she fell prey to a gang of human kidnappers in the employ of the crime boss Gewgaw. The mercurial tengu had decided to add an elf to his collection, and his agents selected Elharris at random. The abduction shocked Elharris, but it also confirmed every prejudice she had toward humans.

Elharris still wears the expensive gown she wore to the theater on her last night in Absalom, albeit with numerous tears and stains that somewhat lessen its original dramatic impact. She has violet eyes and an ugly bruise on the left side of her face, “encouragement” from the ogre Mullun to not cause trouble. When the adventure begins, Elharris is deeply in thrall to the mind-numbing toiler's gruel. Until she regains her senses, she is cowardly and unwilling to enter combat unless ordered to do so. As with the other captives, the effects of the poison wane as the adventure progresses, wearing off entirely after three days. Although Elharris is an apprentice wizard in addition to her artistic and scholarly accomplishments, the impact of the poison on her spellcasting ability extends longer than her other symptoms. She won't regain her spellcasting ability until she fully recovers for some time in Absalom after the conclusion of this adventure.

Elharris's mind remains clouded for much of her time in the Orthux compound, but by the time the party finds itself in the bas-relief galleries in Sarnax's tomb, her lifelong interest in art and history finally begins to override the numbing effects of the poison, and she starts to emerge from her shell. If she has writing supplies (such as might be recovered in area A18), Elharris sketches the figures of Sarnax she sees in the gallery and transcribes their associated inscriptions. Her keen ability to interpret images and symbols—plus the voracious curiosity about legends and mythology critical to a complete understanding of art history— makes Elharris a good source of information about the art in the sanctum.
