Mythic Late Start

You may have an ongoing campaign where the characters are already higher level, or you may want to run a campaign where the players gain their mythic power later than 2nd level. When using the mythic late start variant, start by using the mythic trials presented above.

You'll want to make sure you have an idea of about how much mythic power you want the party to gain, and the rate at which you want them to gain it. Will the PCs have a full array of mythic feats and a mythic destiny by the time the campaign completes, or will they stop short of gaining a mythic destiny? Maybe they achieve a mythic destiny but do not get to the level 20 mythic destiny feats that grant immortality.

It is not recommended to simply have them gain all of the mythic power a character of their level would normally have all at once. It can be a heavy cognitive burden to gain so many new abilities, so it's important to space the acquisition of mythic power out to give players time to learn their characters' new options and abilities. Characters should gain no more than one mythic tier per play session, using the suggested number of mythic trial encounters listed in the Mythic Trials table to ensure they get an opportunity to learn and utilize their mythic abilities before gaining their next mythic tier.

Once the PC's mythic tier is equal to half their level, you can choose to continue advancing using mythic tiers, or you can normalize to the standard mythic advancement, having them gain a new mythic feat at each even-numbered level as normal.
