Unique Complex Illusion Magical Mythic Trap
Source Pathfinder Adventure Path #219: Lord of the Trinity Star pg. 20
Complexity Complex
Stealth 31
Description A mass of illusions floods the senses of creatures, plunging them into an ever-shifting maze of fluid realities.
Disable DC 38 Thievery (legendary) to seize strands of a false reality and tug at them to unravel the surrounding illusions, DC 41 Arcana to take command of the illusions in a false reality and force them to consume themselves, dispel magic (7th-rank; counteract DC 39) to counteract one of the four realities the illusion creates
AC 39, Fort +28, Ref +28
Reality Hardness 20, HP 90; Immunities critical hits, object immunities, precision damage, plus one type of damage defined by the current reality
Reality Undone [reaction] (illusion) Trigger A non-follower of Xanderghul attempts to enter the hallway or chambers to the east of this area; Effect A flood of illusions overwhelms in a rush of images and sounds, engulfing the triggering creature and all of their allies within the dawnsilver workshop. Affected creatures must succeed at a DC 34 Will save or become stupefied 1 (stupefied 2 on a critical failure) for 24 hours.
Routine (1 action) The trap shifts from the current reality into a randomly determined one that affects all those lost within the illusion in a different way. The new reality restores 20 Hit Points to itself if it had previously taken damage. Each time a PC succeeds at a check or dispel magic attempt to disable the trap or the current reality is reduced to 0 HP, the current illusory reality vanishes, leaving the PCs in an infinite haze of nothingness save for a three-tailed comet burning in the “sky” above (recognizable as the Trinity Star with a DC 25 Arcana, Nature, Occultism, or Religion check) until the trap takes its next action and randomly determines its new reality from the options that remain. If only one endless reality remains when it’s disabled or destroyed, the PCs are returned to the real world and the trap is entirely disabled.

When the endless reality shifts, determine its effects and appearance by randomly selecting from the following (rerolling any results that have already been disabled or destroyed).

Each time a PC critically succeeds at a saving throw to resist a reality’s damage, the trap degrades; it’s disable DCs and hardness are reduced by 2 with each such critical success. If the trap’s hardness is reduced to 0 in this way, the entire trap is disabled at once.
Burning Reality (fire) Additional Immunity fire; Effect The world appears to catch on fire, while legions of burning monsters attack the party. Every PC takes 10d6 fire damage (DC 34 basic Reflex save).
Frozen Reality (cold) Additional Immunity cold; Effect The world appears to crust over with ice, while armies of frozen ghosts assault the PCs. Every PC takes 10d6 cold damage (DC 34 basic Reflex save).
Impossible Reality (mental) Additional Immunity physical; Effect The world distorts into a reality of impossible geometry as the PCs feel their own bodies distort to match twisted reflections of unworkable configurations. Every PC takes 10d6 mental damage (DC 34 basic Will save).
Melting Reality (acid) Additional Immunity acid; Effect The world appears to dissolve away, as slithering oozes swarm out of the surroundings to engulf the PCs. Every PC takes 10d6 acid damage (DC 34 basic Fortitude save).
