Description A seemingly ordinary hole in the forest floor exerts a strange gravity on creatures that come near.
Disable DC 23 Nature or Occultism (expert) three times to disperse the unusual energy surrounding the hole, or dispel magic (3rd rank; counteract DC 22) to counteract the engulfing magic
Deadly Inhale [reaction] Trigger A creature approaches within 15 feet of the hole; Effect The ravenous pit seems to “inhale,” attempting to pull creatures into itself. Each creature within 15 feet must attempt a DC 24 Fortitude save. On a failure, the creature is pulled 5 feet closer to the hole (10 feet on a critical failure). The pit then rolls initiative.
Routine (2 actions) For each action, the pit chooses a different creature within a 20-foot emanation to attempt to swallow. That creature must attempt a DC 22 Fortitude save. On a failure, the creature is pulled 5 feet closer to the hole (10 feet on a critical failure). If this would pull the creature into the pit, that creature can attempt to Grab an Edge as a reaction (DC 22). A creature who falls into the pit disappears into an extradimensional space that feels like being buried alive. A creature takes 2d8+7 bludgeoning damage (DC 20 basic Fortitude save) at the end of each its turns in the extradimensional space. A creature in this extradimensional space is grabbed and slowed 1; they can Escape this extradimensional space with a successful DC 22 Athletics, Nature, or Survival check. If they succeed, they appear in a random spot no more than 10 feet from the hole as if they had clawed their way from the dirt.

While this trap is active, all creatures treat movement away from the pit as difficult terrain.
Reset If the trap isn’t disabled, it becomes dormant for 10 minutes if there are no creatures within 20 feet of it at the start of its turn.
