Description The floating gem flares with inner radiance, sending out beams of light to captivate and drain the vitality from all who approach.
Disable DC 35 Arcana (expert), Occultism (expert), or Religion (expert) to unravel the magical matrix within the gem, DC 40 Crafting or Thievery check to unbalance the crystal’s alignment, or a DC 43 Athletics check to damage one of the gem’s facets and change its geometry; two successes are required to disable the hazard

Glint [reaction] Trigger Any living creature approaches within 10 feet of the gem; Effect The captivating gem targets the triggering creature with a facet flare Strike and then rolls initiative.
Routine (3 actions) The captivating gem attempts uses all three of its actions to incapacitate creatures. It targets the closest creature with its Freezing Light ability, then a different creature with its facet flare Strike. If a creature has already been paralyzed by Freezing Light, it chooses a different target for that ability.
Freezing Light [two-actions] (force, nonlethal, occult) The captivating gem shines intense light on a living creature, freezing it in place. The target must attempt a DC 40 Fortitude Save.
Critical Success The target is unaffected.
Success The target is stunned 1 and takes 2d12 force damage.
Failure The target is paralyzed for 1 round and takes 4d12 force damage.
Critical Failure The target is paralyzed for 1 round and takes 8d12 force damage.
