Unique Complex Magical
Source Rotten to the Core pg. 175
Complexity Complex
Stealth +38 (master)
Description The malevolent spirit inside the soul cage defends itself against attempts to remove it from the avatar’s forehead.
Disable DC 48 Arcana, Nature, Occultism, or Religion (legendary) three times to break the entropic vaultline’s magical connection to the avatar. Once the connection is broken, the soul cage loses its Hardness, and its AC is reduced to 40. Destroying the soul cage disables the hazard. Alternatively, three successful DC 45 Thievery (legendary) checks remove the soul cage from its socket, disabling the hazard but leaving the soul cage intact. Reducing the avatar of Yig to 0 HP also disables the hazard.

Rejuvenation [reaction] Trigger The avatar of Yig animates; Effect The soul of Zyphaniss rejuvenates inside his soul cage. The hazard rolls initiative.
Routine (1 action) If the avatar of Yig’s Annihilation Beams are available to use, the hazard focuses both beams in a 20-foot burst within 120 feet. The ground in the area becomes difficult terrain. Any creatures in the area take 15d10 damage (no damage type) and must attempt a DC 43 basic Reflex save with the following effects. A creature reduced to 0 HP is reduced to a fine powder as the disintegrate spell. The hazard can’t use this action again until the avatar’s Annihilation Beams become usable again.
Critical SuccessThe creature takes no damage.

FailureThe creature takes full damage and is knocked prone.
Critical FailureThe creature takes full damage, is knocked prone, and is stunned 1.

Rebuke [reaction] Trigger An adjacent creature attacks the soul cage or attempts a Thievery check to remove it; Effect Zyphaniss unleashes a surge of magic to defend his soul cage from the triggering creature. This has the effects of an 8th-rank chain lightning (DC 46) spell, except that any creature that fails the save is also stunned 1.
Reset If the avatar of Yig hasn’t been reduced to 0 Hit Points and Zyphaniss’s soul cage is removed from it without being destroyed, the avatar reactivates with full HP as soon as the soul cage is returned to the socket on its forehead.
