Hungersome Wolf

A hungersome wolf is a fearsome beast who stalks the forests of the First World, following after their prey with silent steps and unending patience. They're known to choose a target and bide their time, finding out the target's usual routes and routines, eventually identifying the perfect time and place to strike. When the moment is right, the wolf will enter into the home of the target, consume one of their loved ones, and shift into that victim's form, waiting for the target to return and become the perfect dessert to their vicious meal.

A hungersome wolf prefers the prey they find in the First World, but occasionally, one finds their way into the Universe. The resulting carnage inspires many stories whispered in the dark of night to children as a warning— against leaving the trail, against leaving an unprotected loved one alone, and most importantly, a warning to trust your instincts.

Sidebar - Additional Lore Who's Afraid Of The Big Bad Wolf?

Often, a hungersome wolf starts out as a perfectly normal wolf. However, within the First World, everything can be changed with the right storyteller, the right bonfire, and the right spark of imagination. A town that finds itself terrorized by a particularly powerful hungersome wolf is often the center of a fantastical tale of a little girl looking for her grandmother or of a boy getting lost in the woods while searching for his cow. Such tales often don’t have happy endings.
