Spriggan Warlord

Spriggan warlords often serve as sub-commanders in large groups, filling roles in spriggan society akin to captains of the guard or bodyguards to spriggan royalty. In smaller groups or remote outposts, a single spriggan warlord is typically in charge of a band of spriggan bullies.

Spriggan

Source Feybound pg. 154
When gnomes left the First World, many embraced and adapted to life in the Universe, but not all were so resilient. Those who instead hardened their hearts in this time formed insular communities that prioritized survival by any means necessary. Over generations, these communities lost their interest in joy and beauty, diverging into sour creatures called spriggans. In exchange for this loss, they gained an immunity to the Bleaching and the ability to grow in size for short periods of time to increase their odds of survival—or better menace their victims. Over time, spriggans' culture of ruthless pragmatism has become one of sadistic cruelty, their only joy derived from visiting harm upon others.

Sidebar - Locations Spriggan Distractions

As a culture, most spriggans live for battle and constantly patrol their territories in hopes of encountering trespassers to capture and victimize. Even so, spriggans sometimes need to relax. Since they have little interest in beauty or pleasure, games, art, and similar leisure activities are lost on them. Instead, they fill their idle time training for combat, watching others fight to the death, crafting weapons, or plotting against their kin for personal gain.

Sidebar - Additional Lore Striking Out

No culture is a monolith, and occasional spriggans reject their society's institutional brutality to seek other ways of life. Many return to the First World, hoping to reconnect with their ancestral homeland. Such spriggans become hated, and sometimes feared, outcasts from their former compatriots. Those who choose exile over complicity lose their ability to take on a larger size, but might discover new powers of healing or transformation.
