Vault Lifter

Vault lifters are sentient stone constructs roughly carved into the semblance of giant xiomorns. Each vault lifter is encircled by a spinning ring, called a rotor, which grants the lifter the ability to fly.

Xiomorns created vault lifters to help construct their vaults throughout the Plane of Earth and across the Universe. With the ability to airlift heavy burdens and possessed with enough intelligence to carry out complex instructions, vault lifters were valuable lieutenants in the xiomorns' vast terraforming projects. Vault lifters were intended to be more than simple laborers, however; they were also built as weapons of war. In combat, vault lifters spin their rotors into fearsome buzz saws capable of propelling them at high speeds and slicing foes in half.

Sidebar - Additional Lore Abandoned Guardians

While some vault lifters continue to serve living xiomorns, others have been left behind in long-abandoned locations. Over the years, many of these forgotten vault lifters have completed their assignments and deactivated themselves. Others continue to perform some unending task, such as “keep this area clean,” “prevent unauthorized entry,” or “I'll be back in a bit—wait for my return.” After millennia spent in solitude, some abandoned vault lifters become fanatical about their final orders, spinning them into complex philosophical systems heavy with moral significance.
