Many types of animated constructs, objects, and handcrafts have existed in Tian Xia. Some, like the terra-cotta soldiers of Lingshen, are well-known. Others are rarer and less commonly encountered. Tian animated handcrafts are built from traditional artisan materials of differing rarity and with varying levels of effort, relying on crafting skill and quality components more than simple spellcasting.

Calligraphic Embellishments

Calligraphy is a common addition to the animated objects of Tian Xia. Although much of it is decorative, some calligraphy carries enchantments that generally function as weapon runes until the construct is broken.

Handcraft Creations

Animated handcrafts vary considerably in appearance, reflecting the temperament and tastes of their creators. When describing animated objects from different origins, consider how those origins and traditions are reflected in the final product. Common motifs in Tian animated handcrafts include woven straw, silk embroidery, lacquered wood, or mother-of-pearl inlays. Purely decorative handcrafts might have more outlandish elements, such as live fish in glass tanks or living silk kites that battle each other in the skies above wealthy neighborhoods.
