PFS RestrictedYig (Father of Serpents)

Source Divine Mysteries pg. 318
Known to mortals as the Father of Serpents, Yig is an outlier among Great Old Ones in that he appears, at least on the surface, to pose little threat to mortals. The truth of the matter is somewhat more complicated, however, as the serpentine god enters intermittent feeding frenzies, during which even his most devout followers know to avoid attracting his attention, lest they become his next meal. When appearing before his congregation, Yig often takes on the form of a massive serpentine being with arms and legs, covered in green scales except for a distinctive silver crescent on his brow.

Worship of the Father of Serpents is isolated almost exclusively to rural communities that rely on seasonal cycles, such as nomadic followings and farming villages, and as such very few temples exclusively dedicated to the serpent god exist. Instead, worshippers congregate in forest clearings and cave mouths to leave tribute to Yig, most often in the form of food. Despite his position as a god of snakes, serpentfolk society treats Yig with irreverence as a result of his historical rivalry with the now-dead Ydersius; Yig, meanwhile, pays this disdain no heed.
