Spell Catalysts

Source Secrets of Magic pg. 168
The divergent magical practices of Golarion mean there's no one way to cast a spell. Whether out of competitiveness or a desire to personalize their spellwork, many magic users have added or substituted material components beyond the conventional.

Items with the catalyst trait are consumable material spell components that alter or magnify specific spells. Activating a catalyst is part of Casting the Spell. The catalyst might increase the number of actions required to Cast the Spell, as indicated in the catalyst's Activate entry. Additionally, the spell gains material components if it didn't have them already or adds the catalyst to its existing components. Because the catalyst becomes part of the material components, you can draw the catalyst as part of Casting the Spell.

Filter Use These filters are still being tested and do not currently function properly on Mobile (Desktop View will work). Please use the Contact Us field on the main menu to report any issues.

You can apply filters, sort by, or hide columns by right-clicking them on a PC, or pressing ≡ on mobile. Your column order and visibility preferences will be kept after you switch pages.
All columns should function as the filters describe, with the following exceptions:
  • 'Between' Function: To use the 'between' function on any number column, separate each number with a space and then select the 'between' option (eg: '4 10', minus the quotations would get all results between 4 and 10).
  • 'NULL' or 'Empty' Results: Set filter 'Is Empty'. This will find results where we show an emdash — (Exception: Bulk is -1)
  • Bulk: Numbers Only. -1 = None, 0 = Light, 1+ = Normal
  • PFS Legality: Numbers Only. 0 = No PFS Ruling; 1 = Standard; 2 = Limited; 3 = Restricted
  • Price: Numbers Only. 1 cp = 0.1; 1 sp = 1; 1 gp = 10
  • Traits: Use 'Contains' for one Trait at a time. Does not support multiple Traits yet.

For increased filtering power, click the 'Export to CSV' button in the top-right of the grid and further filter the data in Excel or a similar medium.
