Bokrug (The Water Lizard)Source Divine Mysteries pg. 318Silently dwelling beneath the surface of a nameless lake within a far-flung corner of the
Dreamlands, Bokrug was once the patron deity of an ancestry known only as the beings of Ib—amphibious humanoids with froglike features—but the incursion of humans upon their domain resulted in the total extermination of this shoreside civilization. Shades of these creatures still haunt that area. Bokrug’s preferred form is of a colossal green
lizard whose back is covered in needle-like spines, possessing a long tail which forks into a trio of spikes at its tip and a noxious breath that induces hysteria. Despite this fearsome appearance, the Water Lizard is rarely moved to aggression; however, when his ire is drawn he ceaselessly pursues those who transgressed against him in a violent fury, returning to a docile state only when his prey is utterly destroyed.
Worship of the Water Lizard is primarily observed among residents of waterside or swampy settlements who hope that by placating the god their home will be spared his wrath. Storms over the water are interpreted as signs of Bokrug’s displeasure, whereas extended periods of calm weather are his most common boon.
