Camazotz (Lord Of Stolen Blood)Source Divine Mysteries pg. 132Camazotz began life as a vampire bat inhabiting the demiplane of Xibalba, but soon learned how to flit between planes and found himself in a cavernous realm within the
Outer Rifts. After the
demonic inhabitants there took notice of this visitor lurking in the shadows, they began to use Camazotz to send messages to their mortal followers. His payment came in the form of blood, and his eagerness to accept this renumeration from within the chthonian gloom earned him the sobriquet “The Hungry Dark.” His journeys took him to the Land of the Eleven Deaths, a Darklands realm beneath Arcadia, where he feasted on more blood. His feedings eventually elevated him to godhood as the Lord of Stolen Blood. Camazotz remains on the move, splitting his time between the House of the Bat in Xibalba, the Outer Rift caves of Argahoz, and the Land of the Eleven Deaths. With no one true domain to call home, Camazotz has more freedom to roam than most other gods, allowing him to indulge his thirst wherever he pleases.
Those drawn to worship Camazotz are the ones who thrive in the dark and shadows and crave the feel (or taste) of blood. For the most part, he doesn’t meddle in mortal affairs, but when he deigns to take notice of a follower, he expects unwavering and undying loyalty from them unto their death. His worshippers seek him in caves, especially those hosting bat colonies that fly out at night to feed on the beasts in the surrounding countryside. Bats aren’t the only animals he favors, however; all nocturnal predators—including spiders, wolves, coyotes, foxes, and scorpions—also fall under his purview. Many vampires can be counted among his faithful, with unsubstantiated rumors that he was the first of their kind.
Camazotz is primarily a solitary god, staying out of the machinations of other deities. Occasionally, he will make temporary alliances with those willing to pay him in blood to enact vicious attacks on their enemies. His only true friendship is with
Ah Pook the Destroyer, another resident of Xibalba. His primary enemy is
Dajermube, Holder of Unquenchable Light, a sun goddess who stands with one foot in the shadows. This antagonism is a recent one, as Dajermube is a relatively new god. After her ascension, Dajermube sought out Camazotz specifically as if she were bearing some grudge from her mortal days. Camazotz was quick to respond in kind to the goddess of eclipses, as she represents an encroaching of the sun within darkness. While he can tolerate the sun and other bright light, Camazotz is weaker there, as his night vision is useless.
