Uskyeria (The Saintly Slumberer)Source Divine Mysteries pg. 310Whether consciously or not, every successful hunter knows that a balance must be struck between observation and action, preparation and instinct, life and death. Taking more from the land than what is sustainable entices predators to be bolder, possibly turning the hunter into the hunted. Those who seek harmony while they live off the land give deference to Uskyeria, who urges her followers to embrace this equilibrium. Death is a natural part of life. Predators hunt prey. Those who are best suited to do so will survive. Those who don’t still feed the circle of life.
Appearing as a gigantic red
bear with gold-streaked fur, Uskyeria is said to have originated in the far north of Avistan, between the realms currently known as Irrisen and the Sarkoris Scar. Also known as the Saintly Slumberer, this
agathion empyreal lord’s invisible servitors bring restful sleep to both predator and prey, so they can awake refreshed upon the morn to begin the cycle anew. Insomniacs far from nature who seek balance in their own lives also pray to Uskyeria. Seeing their hunt for strength and balance just as deserving, she sometimes blesses them with the rest they so desperately need.
