Teshallas (The Primordial Poison)Source Divine Mysteries pg. 316When the Universe was young,
Pharasma watched mortals as they lived, and when their day arrived, she saw mortality’s love for life push them to defy the cycle and refuse death. Pharasma raised up an asp, reshaping them into a new
psychopomp usher whose venom—age— would flow through all mortal veins, draining away their memories, their passions, and their vitality, until, when their time comes to its close, they are ready for death’s embrace.
Teshallas is the Primordial Poison, the usher of age, poison, and all venomous creatures. Though there are many who curse their name, or curse Pharasma’s cruelty for inflicting them on the world, death is not the only gift their venom bears. Their touch allows mortals to grow and mature throughout their lives, gaining the wisdom that comes only through experience. Teshallas is the patron of herbalists, and of poisons refined into medicines that give life instead of take. Their mortal following attracts hedge witches, herbalists, alchemists, and assassins, and these worshippers often maintain small gardens where they cultivate a variety of poisonous plants needed for potion making and alchemy.
