Scal (Calm after the Storm)Source Divine Mysteries pg. 302The people of ancient Azlant worshipped Scal as the deity of catharsis and purity. His promotion of these values, however, was more violent in nature. The Calm After the Storm believed righteousness could only be found by harnessing one’s own darkness to destroy anything that threatened one’s existence. His teachings were not about suppressing one’s inner rage, hiding it, or blocking it out, but rather using that inherent violence as a powerful weapon.
A vengeful god, Scal once threatened to bring about an apocalypse by raining fire and destruction from the heavens onto all Golarion if humanity disappointed him. With these threats, he was wrongfully accused of causing Earthfall and the demise of ancient Azlant. His followers abandoned him, and Scal, scorned, left
Golarion.
In recent years, reports of followers of Scal have been popping up around fight clubs, warrior guilds and similar groups founded through similar violent interests. Although small, these clusters of followers could indicate that Scal has returned to Golarion. To what end remains to be seen, however.
Often serving in underground arenas rather than peaceful temples, followers of Scal balk at traditional religious practice. Followers are often found among those cast out from families, loners, and recently released prisoners. These followers find refuge in Scal, as a god who doesn’t judge them for their inner rage, but rather one that encourages them to release it and use it as a source of power.
