Grask Uldeth (The Uniter)Source Divine Mysteries pg. 316Few mortals know that Grask was killed by assassins hired by his own faithful majordomo, Ardax the White Hair; fewer still understand that neither party sees this as a betrayal. Grask keenly sought a violent death specifically to swear his Deathright, while Ardax’s unusually prophetic powers of foresight saw a future where Grask would swear the
orcs to Tar-Baphon when the Whispering Tyrant returned. After being assassinated, Grask challenged the god Zagresh and won, becoming a god.
Almost immediately after his ascension, Grask attempted to assassinate the
dwarf god
Torag, driving an axe forged by dwarven hands into the older deity’s chest. It is entirely possible that Grask would have succeeded, spurring a new era of violence and war between dwarves and orcs, were it not for the intervention of the new orc god
Uirch, who saved Torag’s life and drove Grask from the field of battle in a fearsome duel.
In life, Grask’s vision was to amass wealth via trade rather than raiding, and he imposed a semblance of law and order to entice foreign merchants to visit Belkzen. At first, this wasn’t a popular concept among a population that largely gained wealth via raids, but that changed when the gold started rolling in.
As a deity, the Uniter values those who strictly adhere to the rules and examples he set down in life. He is open to trade and negotiation with other ancestries, though he steadfastly refuses to forgive dwarves for the crimes he believes they have committed against his people. He expects total obedience from the rank and file and that those in power rule with an iron fist, all in the name of improving the orcs’ lot in life. He is, in many ways, the mirror of Uirch, who believes that power should be used to protect those weaker than oneself.
